Google TV Starting In Europe Early 2012
Stating that a Google TV announcement is imminent, Eric Schmidt came out in the Edinburgh Worldwide TV Festival because he completed for Shine Group founder Elisabeth Murdoch as keynote speaker. Throughout Friday’s MacTaggart Lecture, given the very first time with a television industry outsider, the Google executive chairman stated Google TV intends to launch in Europe early the coming year, using the United kingdom a high priority. A lot more partners are required to become listed on the fledgling TV service soon, Schmidt stated, and the organization has already been in talks with United kingdom tv stations. He stated U.S. systems that balked at Google TV captured haven’t corrected their position, and hopes the service won’t face an identical condition in Europe. In the keynote, Schmidt also named three trends to look at: mobile, local and social — a jerk to Google’s recent purchase of Motorola Mobility in addition to a need to personalize TV content and services. “Soon, your typical Internet user will not be inside having a PC theyll be on an outing on the mobile phone,” Schmidt stated. “Reflecting this, new genres of online content and services are emerging. If submissions are king, context is its crown. … And when you believe all of this is exciting, or frightening, remember, this is simply the beginning. In technological terms, were scarcely in the finish from the first act from the Internet age.”

Helen Mirren's 'Deadlocked' Drama Moves Forward
TORONTO -- The Helen Mirren-starring Middle East drama Deadlocked from Brit indie producer Andy Harries and Canadian partner Rob Heydon is on.our editor recommendsGrande Dame Helen Mirren: My Sex Appeal is Bloody IrrelevantHelen Mirren joins Russell Brand in 'Arthur' Harries' Left Bank Pictures has pacted with Heydon's Ecstasy Pictures to shoot the $10 million theatrical feature as a Canadian-British co-production in spring 2012. Mirren, who worked with Harries on The Queen and Prime Suspect 7, has been attached to the project since it was first developed out of BBC Films four years ago. Philip Martin is to direct Deadlocked, which sees Mirren play a secular Jewish British doctor who investigates the sudden death of her young daughter, a freelance TV journalist, in the streets of Gaza City, only to discover a secret life her daughter led. The film has backing from BBC Films and Lionsgate UK. Ecstasy Pictures on board as a co-producer allows Deadlocked to tap Canadian tax credits by shooting some interiors in Canada, posting the picture here and sending a Canadian crew to the Middle East to help shoot the picture. As long as a film is a certified co-production, Canadian rules allow up to 25% of the total budget spent in a third country to be eligible for tax rebates. The producers earlier scouted Jordan as a location for the Deadlocked shoot, but shelved those plans when civil unrest broke out there in the wake of the Arab Spring. Heydon's $5 million Ecstasy, the film based on Irvine Welsh's follow up novel to Trainspotting and starring Kristin Kreuk andBilly Boyd, is expected to have its world premiere at the London Film Festival in October. A four-minute short from Ecstasy was shopped to buyers at Cannes. London will give the film's international sales agent, Intandem Films, its first chance to shop the finished product. ThunderCats Sneak Peek: Panthro and Grune, Together Again!
ThunderCats Although we finally got to see Panthro return on last week's ThunderCats, it was really just a tease. You can't just let him swing those nunchakus, beat up a few lizards and end the episode! Well, on Friday's episode titled "Old Friends" (airing 8:30/7:30c on Cartoon Network), we'll get to see lots more Panthro since he joins Lion-O's team officially. We hope we can find out what he was up to when that traitor Grune claimed he was dead. What's on your Watchlist? Create one and add your favorites, like ThunderCats Panthro and Grune haven't always been at odds. In fact, they used to be pals. Check out this flashback of when they first met: Panthro is a lot more jaded and scarred (literally) since then. Maybe that's why there appears to be some friction between him and Lion-O. Uh-oh! On the plus side, more nunchaku action: Which other ThunderCats characters would you like to see back?

Why Sons of Anarchy Boss Kurt Sutter Quit Twitter
Kurt Sutter Kurt Sutter, the often outspoken creator of Sons of Anarchy, quit Twitter over the weekend, after inciting a slew of headlines with a tweet that blamed Mad Men creator Matt Weiner for demanding so much money out of AMC that they were forced to fire Walking Dead's Frank Darabont as part of budget cutting. Glen Mazzara replaces Frank Darabont as Walking Dead showrunner Last week, Sutter took AMC to task for Darabont's ouster on Twitter, saying Weiner's contract negotiations caused all the turmoil. "Why Darabont got fired - Weiner. He held AMC hostage, broke their bank, budgets were slashed, sh-- rolled down hill onto [Breaking Bad showrunner Vince] Gilligan and Frank. "No one else wants to f---ing say it, but the greed of Mad Men is killing the other two best shows on TV - Breaking Bad and Walking Dead." Sutter later went on to clarify his remarks. "This is not me vs. Matt," he wrote. "The issue is that AMC should not have compromised their other shows to appease his $$ demands. It was bad business." FX sets fall schedule: When will Sons of Anarchy come vrooming back? This isn't Sutter's first tirade on Twitter - back in July, Sutter mocked the out-of-touch Emmy voters for not giving Sons of Anarchy any love - but it does seem to be his last. Sutter's tweets are no longer available after he pulled down his Twitter account. On his blog, Sutter insisted no one chased him off Twitter except himself. "My exit from Twitter was quite simple and, c'mon, let's face it, pretty f---ing obvious -- I'm a guy desperately in need of buffers," he wrote."I have big feelings, big reactions, big emotions. All the things that serve me as an artist, but challenge me as a socially-responsible human being. "I don't regret any tweet, nor do I apologize," he continued. "Everything I said was done in the spirit of social conversation, free speech and was my opinion.Right or wrong, I said it, I own it."

Additionally to voicing the smoothness of Donkey within the box-office hit Shrek franchise, Murphy seemed to be the voice of Mushu, the Dragon, within the effective animated epic Mulan. Murphy will next be observed in the comedies Tower Heist, co-starring Ben Stiller from Universal Galleries along with a 1000 Words, from DreamWorks. Alex Zamm (Dr. Dolittle: Billion Dollar Mutts, Tooth Fairy 2) will direct. Kosove and Manley will produce with Jay Stern and Brett Ratner. Steven P. Wegner will executive produce. Condition Manley and Kosove: We're able to 't be more happy that Eddie Murphy will star as Phooey. There's no overstating his contributions to cinema, and also to such long lasting stars of family entertainments for example Shrek and Dr. Doolittle. We anticipate watching him re-imagine another classic character. In line with the 70s cult classic Hanna Barbera animated TV series, a gentle-mannered dog named PENRY (Murphy) stumbles right into a mystic ceremony and it is accidentally granted mystic forces, including a chance to walk, talk, and do kung fu. Dish Network Lost 135,000 Subscribers in Second Quarter
NEW YORK - Charlie Ergen's Dish Network reported stronger second-quarter financials on Tuesday, but the satellite TV provider said it lost about 135,000 subscribers in the latest period, more than the 31,000 that Wall Street had expected on average. It cited increased competition for the bigger drop in customers. Satellite TV competitor DirecTV last week reported a weaker-than-expected 26,000 subscriber gain in the seasonally slow second quarter. As predicted by more and more industry observers, Dish's decline means that the U.S. satellite TV industry lost subscribers for the first time ever in the second quarter. It also drags down the overall quarterly subscriber momentum for pay TV operators further after several cable operators had already disappointed Wall Street expectations. Dish ended June with approximately 14.06 million total subscribers. It had lost 19,000 subs in the second quarter of 2010. Dish reported a second-quarterprofit of $335 million, up 30.3 percent from the year-ago period. Revenue rose 13.3 percent to $3.6 billion. New Dish president and CEO Joe Clayton lauded "another quarter of strong growth" in revenue and the bottom line. "Our decrease in net subscribers was primarily due to increased competitive pressures, including higher levels of discounting," he said. DIrecTV had also mentioned competition and a weak economy as key drivers of its weak customer gains. "The second quarter was also marked by several other achievements including our purchase of most of the Blockbuster assets, settlement of the TiVo litigation and renewal of a multi-year partnership with Frontier Communications, offering Dish Network's digital TV entertainment to Frontier's nearly 4 million customers in 27 states," said Clayton. "As we look forward to the second half of the year, we will focus on commercializing our technology, re-energizing our distribution channels and strengthening our brand image. We continue to offer the best value to consumers with the lowest everyday prices, in part by freezing prices through January 2013." Wells Fargo analyst Marci Ryvicker said the weaker subscriber momentum is no surprise amid increasing costs to acquire subscribers. "While net adds were weak, it makes sense - just look at subscriber acquisition cost, which is approaching $800," she wrote in a first report. Evercore Partners analyst Bryan Kraft said Blockbuster revenue in the latest quarter appeared to be $254 million, with operating cash flow of $23 million. The Best of the Best of the Body-Swap Movies
If there's ever been a case to be made for the unoriginality of Hollywood, all you really need to do is wait for another body-swap movie to come out. As evidenced by the release of 'The Change-Up' on Aug. 5, it doesn't matter how many times we've seen this premise, it's still a long way from being tapped out. From '18 Again!' to 'The Hot Chick,' there have been a ton of forgettable body-swap movies to come out over the years, so we thought we'd go down our list of the best movies where two complete opposites somehow switch bodies with one another and end up better off for it in the long run. That said, go right ahead and check out our top five. 5. Vice Versa (1988) What's it about? A workaholic dad and his neglected, pre-pubescent son magically switch bodies thanks to the powers of a mystical Chinese skull. Who's in it? Judge Reinhold, Fred Savage and Jane Kaczmarek. Directed by Brian Gilbert, written by Ian La Frenais and Dick Clement. What's the general consensus? Rotten Tomatoes gives it a Tomatometer score of 43 percent. Why do we like it? Often confused with 'Like Father, Like Son,' and released in the same year as 'Big,' 'Vice Versa' is more of a guilty pleasure than it is a good movie. It's essentially an excuse to watch Judge Reinhold act like a kid by doing a Keanu Reeves impression for an hour and change, but since we love Judge Reinhold and still don't know why he ever fell off the face of the earth, we've always had a soft spot for 'Vice Versa.' 4. All of Me (1984) What's it about? Thanks to the powers of a magical bowl, the soul of a dying heiress gets transferred into the right side of an attorney's body. From that point forward, the attorney controls the left side of his body, the heiress controls the right, and they work together to get her a new body. Who's in it? Steve Martin, Lily Tomlin and Victoria Tennant. Directed by Carl Reiner, written by Phil Alden Robinson and Henry Olek. What's the general consensus? Rotten Tomatoes gives it a Tomatometer score of 90 percent. Why do we like it? As far as body-swap movies are concerned, this is actually one of the more creative ones out there, an excellent display of Martin as a physical comedian. Not much else to say, we just love Steve Martin. 3. Face/Off (1997) What's it about? An FBI agent spends eight years chasing after the terrorist who killed his son. Eventually he catches the guy and surgically trades faces with him in order to uncover the location of a warhead in Los Angeles, but then the terrorist ends up escaping and switches faces with the FBI agent, and things get crazy. Who's in it? John Travolta, Nicolas Cage, Joan Allen and Gina Gershon. Directed by John Woo, written by Mike Werb and Michael Colleary. What's the general consensus? Rotten Tomatoes gives it a Tomatometer score of 94 percent. Why do we like it? It's over the top, it's got more action than you can shake a stick at, and it's also one of the more original (if not completely ridiculous) body-swap premises out there. For a sub-genre that's almost always geared toward comedy, it's one hell of a trip watching John Woo take a stab at it, with Travolta and Cage getting to overact to their hearts' content. 2. Freaky Friday (2003) What's it about? A workaholic mom and her rebellious teen daughter magically switch bodies thanks to the powers of a mystical Chinese fortune cookie. What's the general consensus? Rotten Tomatoes gives it a Tomatometer score of 88 percent. Why do we like it? Jamie Lee Curtis. It's one of those movies that we caught on ABC Family a couple years back because we had nothing better to do with our day, but it totally caught us by surprise thanks to a surprisingly fun script and a scene-stealing performance from Curtis that made us feel like idiots for not properly acknowledging how awesome she's always been. Completely unoriginal, but a total blast nonetheless that had us grinning from ear-to-ear straight through. 1. The Change-Up (2011) What's it about? A workaholic family man goes out drinking one night with his slacker best friend. Later that night, they pee in a magic fountain together, and they wake up the next morning to find that they've swapped bodies. Why do we like it? We got to see an advance screening a couple weeks back, and we kid you not that it absolutely deserves the No. 1 spot on this list. Sure, it's not the most original premise out there, but it totally embraces the fact and gave us some of the biggest laughs of the year. You'll have to wait until Wednesday for our full review on all the raunchy details, but trust us here -- this one's a riot. And because no body-swap list is complete without Rob Schneider ... Sorry in advance to anyone who was expecting to see 'Big' on this list, but as much as we love it, we couldn't quite add it to the list since Tom Hanks doesn't actually swap bodies as much as he grows up overnight. What's your favorite body-swap movie? Photo courtesy of Universal Pictures.
